DRUM MAJOR WORKSHOP:

Ever wondered what it feels like to lead a pipe band down the field? Here's your chance to find out!

Alberta Drum Majors Wes Burnside (Calgary Police Service Pipe Band) and Alan Duguid (Calgary Police Service Pipe Band / Lethbridge Police Service Pipe Band) are coming together to put on a hands-on clinic in the morning of the Red Deer Highland Games!

This is for anyone who's ever been curious about the Drum Major craft. From mace work to marching commands to the art of keeping a band moving as one, they'll walk you through the fundamentals in a welcoming, no-pressure environment. Participants will also have the opportunity to take the field together for a live demonstration and get a taste of what it means to lead from the front.

No experience needed. All ages welcome. Just bring your enthusiasm and be ready to march! Spots are limited — secure yours by emailing youraspd@gmail.com today.

Only a few days left to register for the major competitions!

The Red Deer Highland Games Society recognizes that we live and work on Treaty 7 land, the traditional territory of the Blackfoot, Tsuut'ina and Stoney Nakoda peoples, and that the Central Alberta region we serve falls under Treaty 6, traditional Métis, Cree and Saulteaux territory. We honour the First Peoples who have lived here since time immemorial, and we give thanks for the land on where  we sit.
This is where we will strive to honour and transform our relationships with one another.
